This policy explains what cookies are, which ones this site uses, and how you can control them, in line with UK PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations).
What are cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device to store information. We also use a similar browser storage technology (localStorage) for one purpose described below.
Cookies we use
We do not set any cookies on your first visit. A banner asks you to Accept or Decline analytics cookies before anything beyond strictly necessary storage is used:
- If you click Decline (or take no action), no analytics cookies are ever set, and Google Analytics is never loaded.
- If you click Accept, Google Analytics (GA4) is loaded and sets its standard cookies (typically
_gaand_ga_*) to distinguish visitors and measure site usage. These are third-party cookies set by Google and persist for up to 2 years.
We do not use any advertising, retargeting, or social media cookies on this site.
How your choice is remembered
Your Accept/Decline decision itself is not stored in a cookie — it's stored in your browser's localStorage, so the banner does not reappear on later visits. Google Analytics only ever loads if that stored value is “accepted”.
How to opt out or change your choice
You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's cookies and site data for this website — this removes both the stored consent decision and any Google Analytics cookies already set, and the consent banner will appear again on your next visit so you can choose again. Most browsers also let you block third-party cookies entirely in their privacy settings.
Changes to this policy
If we introduce any new cookies or tracking technologies, we will update this page with an updated “last updated” date.
